FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) is manufacturers' primary predictive tool to identify and prioritize potential failure modes in their processes or product design to eliminate defects. FMEA’s success in the auto industry is no secret, and its use has virally spread to medical devices, electronics, biotech, pharmaceutical, plastics, chemical, labs, aerospace, consumer goods, and other manufacturing sectors.

This presentation will provide a solid introduction to Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). An overview of design and process FMEAs will be discussed, emphasizing the latter.

Participants will learn how to start with the functions of a manufacturing process step and how to associate failure modes with functions and requirements. Failure modes are examined to determine their effects on customers and other stakeholders, then assessed in terms of their impact and prioritized for risk reduction.

The instructor will guide participants through an example FMEA format used in the automotive industry, but this webinar is not just for automotive manufacturers. A working knowledge of FMEA is not required for this presentation.
